Executive Committee Nominations 2025

Nominations are now open for 10 positions on the BACLS Executive Committee

If you would like to nominate yourself for one of these positions (see list below), please join the Association or renew your membership by visiting the "Join" page and then complete the nomination form by 23rd May 2025.

Please see the roles descriptors below and do feel free to contact current post holders if you would like to get a better sense of what these roles involve.

Chair (1 position available)

The Chair provides leadership for the BACLS and sets its agenda. They ensure the smooth running of the Association by convening and chairing Executive Committee meetings and Annual General Meetings. The Chair works with members of the Executive Committee on key BACLS activities, including conference planning and annual prize awards. They are responsible for ensuring that the Association responds strategically to relevant changes to the HE landscape in the UK and internationally.   

Vice-Chair (1 position available)

The Vice-Chair supports the Chair by contributing to the development and delivery of BACLS strategy and activities. They deputize for the Chair when the Chair is unavailable. The Vice-Chair is a member of the Executive Committee.

Treasurer (1 position available)

The Treasurer is responsible for the Association’s finances. They oversee its budget and bank account and are responsible for paying bills and receiving funds. The Treasurer is a member of the Executive Committee.

Membership Secretary (1 position available)

The Membership Secretary deals with all membership matters and processes, including maintaining membership records and mailing lists. They work with the Chair and Executive Committee to identify opportunities for bringing new members into the Association. The Membership Secretary is a member of the Executive Committee.

Web Administrator (1 position available)

The Web Administrator is responsible for maintaining and updating the BACLS website. The Web Administrator is a member of the Executive Committee.

Publicity Officer (1 position available)

The Publicity Officer ensures that BACLS news and activities reach members and other audiences. They compile and distribute a monthly newsletter and publicise the Association through social media platforms. The Publicity Officer is a member of the Executive Committee. 

Graduate Student Representatives (3 positions available)

Graduate Student Representatives are members of the BACLS Executive committee and contribute to development of the Association’s strategy and activities. The are also editors of Alluvium, the BACLS journal dedicated to 21st century literature. 

Ordinary Members (1 position available)

Ordinary Members are members of the BACLS Executive committee and contribute to development of the Association’s strategy and activities. They are invited to contribute conference planning and delivery, as well as to the process of selecting winners of the Association’s prizes.
