C21 Literature: Journal of 21st-century Writings is the journal of the British Association for Contemporary Literary Studies (BACLS). The journal is dedicated to examining the genres, forms of publication, and circulation of 21st-century writings. C21 Literature is a logical development of the explosion of interest in 21st-century writings, seen in book groups, university courses, and the development of online publishing.
The long-time Editor-in-Chief of C21, Katy Shaw, is stepping down from the role and the Association would like to thank Professor Shaw for her long service.
As a result, the journal now seeks a new editor for a three-year term, to start on 1st April 2022. Candidates should have a desire to revitalize and renew the journal’s direction with significant autonomy.
The role itself involves:
- Commissioning special issues on relevant subject areas
- Advocating for the journal as the best outlet for scholarship on twenty-first century literary studies
- Overseeing peer review at the title and ensuring the highest editorial standards
- Liaising with the editorial associates to ensure the highest standards of writing in the title
- Working with our publisher, the Open Library of Humanities, to bring articles to publication
C21 Literature and BACLS are committed to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and we particularly encourage applications from people who identify with groups that are currently underrepresented in literary studies.
Candidates who would like to know more about the role should contact Professor Martin Paul Eve (martin.eve@bbk.ac.uk). Expressions of interest should take the form of a brief cover letter setting out your anticipated editorial approach and a CV, addressed to Professor Eve and Professor Phil Leonard (philip.leonard@ntu.ac.uk). Please send expressions of interest by the end of February 2022.
